A breakthrough in the investigation into the landslide that devastated Niscemi , in the province of Caltanissetta, on January 25th, following the passage of Cyclone Harry , which also caused damage and devastation in Sardinia.

During a press conference, Gela's prosecutor Salvatore Vella, who has opened a case for negligent disaster and damage caused by a landslide, announced that 13 people have been registered as suspects . The massive landslide swept homes and vehicles down the valley, leaving dozens of buildings suspended in the air. Approximately 1,500 people were displaced.

Among those under investigation are the presidents of the Sicilian Region in office from 2010 to 2026: Raffaele Lombardo, Rosario Crocetta, Nello Musumeci, and Renato Schifani.
