In the midst of the controversy over the Green pass in the workplace and the requests - coming from the unions and the Lega - to make tampons free, the choice of EcorNaturaSì is discussed.
The organic giant, with over 300 stores in Italy and 1,600 direct employees, has decided that it will pay part of the cost of the tampon for employees who do not want to get vaccinated. People therefore without the Green pass, mandatory from 15 October, and who would have had to pay the full cost of the tampon every two days (in the case of antigenic) or three (in the case of molecular) to enter work.
The owners of the company, which has a turnover of 400 million euros a year, speak of a choice “to avoid discrimination between vaccinated and unvaccinated, and because you cannot pay to work”.
“We don't want to enter the controversy: our company wants to guarantee help to its collaborators. Three principles are valid for us: respect for the health of people and the Earth, respect for individual freedom, the rights and dignity of workers ”, explains the owner Fabio Brescacin.
"Society as a whole is experiencing a very difficult situation overall, with the appearance of the virus. We want to avoid - he continues - the struggles and divisions that unfortunately the virus has exacerbated in the relationship between people".
But the decision has sparked controversy, many see it as a wink to no vax.
Above all, the virologist of San Raffaele Roberto Burioni, who launches the boycott from his Twitter profile: “If a supermarket chain smooths the hair of no vaxes, it must take into account losing the customers who have done their duty as citizens by vaccinating themselves. NaturaSì is done with me. "
Instead, the Venetian governor Luca Zaia speaks of a “business choice that must be respected”. “I think it's a fair action, in the sense that a company can give benefits like this. This does not mean that the vaccination campaign and the public health plan are giving us results in terms of hospitalizations and infection and the Delta variant has been managed well to date ".
