He had sneaked into his ex-girlfriend's house on Christmas night and, when he saw the woman's new partner, he stabbed him in the back with a 32-centimeter knife he found in the sink, before fleeing and disappearing for a month.

The incident occurred in the Piscinola neighborhood of Naples, where Carabinieri officers from the Naples-Marianella station arrested the 50-year-old man, who had since returned to the area. The Carabinieri and the Naples Prosecutor's Office (Section IV, coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Raffaello Falcone)—who are now charging him with attempted aggravated murder—located him at home. The 50-year-old attempted to flee onto neighbors' balconies but was pursued, stopped, and placed under arrest. This was later validated by the investigating judge, who ordered him to be held in prison.
