Forceps left in a woman's abdomen , discovered after months of pain, were surgically removed from her abdomen in Naples. The operation was performed to remove a pair of scissors that had been left in her abdomen seven months earlier following a tummy tuck.
"Mom," her daughter Elvira told Rai News, "right from the start, the surgery last October wasn't going well. We went to the doctor more than once, and he told us everything was normal after an operation like that. He never said, 'Let's do an ultrasound or a CT scan,' or any other test to see what had happened."
The discomfort, according to the complaint filed by the woman's family, was explained as a "post-surgery symptom" with a prescription "only for tests and antibiotics." "Then," Emilia adds, "we saw that Mom was getting worse, we went for a CT scan and made the discovery. The surgeon said he wanted to operate, but we refused out of fear." After the removal, "we were able to breathe again. After seven months, it's a miracle we have Mom here."
