Bergamo prosecutor Emanuele Marchisio has requested a life sentence for Moussa Sangare, the thirty-year-old accused of the murder of Sharon Verzeni, who was stabbed to death on Via Castegnate in Chignolo d'Isola on the night between July 29 and 30, 2024. The prosecution alleges the aggravating circumstances of weak defense, premeditation, and the "massive" aggravating circumstance of frivolous motives.

Marchisio urged the court not to grant mitigating circumstances to Sangare, explaining that the man "never had a moment of regret" toward Verzeni. The prosecutor also emphasized the "cowardice" of the defendant, who, in addition to killing the thirty-three-year-old woman from Terno d'Isola, was convicted of mistreating her mother and sister: "Always women," he stated. Verzeni's crime was "matured out of boredom" in the defendant's life, as he "taken pleasure in killing a girl walking down the street, a girl who was building her life with her partner." According to the prosecution, that evening, Sangare "had a sense of direction and chose the most defenseless person he could find to kill." And that is why he must be sentenced to life imprisonment, with the aggravating circumstances of defense deficiency, premeditation, and frivolous motives.

Verzeni's family has sought various types of damages from Sangare, but, lawyer Luigi Scuderi explained to the judges, "above all, it's about reaffirming, in an inviolable way, the value of a young woman's life, who was not given the opportunity to escape." The trial continues on January 12th with the defense's statement, with replies and likely sentencing on the 19th.

A "fair and necessary" request. So said Bruno Verzeni, Sharon's father: "Now we're waiting for the defense to intervene and then we'll see." "A life sentence is the minimum," added Sergio Ruocco, Sharon's partner. "Seeing the surveillance footage in court with Sharon that evening wasn't easy," the visibly distressed man simply added.
