The football world is rallying around Roberto Baggio following the loss of his mother, Matilde Reginato , who passed away overnight. The former Italy number 10 announced the news himself on his social media.

"Dear Mom," the 1993 Ballon d'Or winner wrote, along with a photo of him and his mother, " your love has given me the strength to shake the universe . My debt of gratitude to you and Dad will not end with this life."

Baggio has always been very close to his family and is currently receiving an outpouring of support from the football world and his many fans around the world.
