A 60-year-old man died in a fire that broke out last night in a chalet used as a residence in Aupa di Pontebba, in the province of Udine. The owner's charred body was found by firefighters, who responded to the blaze with multiple crews from Tarvisio, Pontebba, and Gemona.

The alarm was raised by a neighbor who saw the flames and heard explosions inside the building. The Carabinieri, coordinated by the Udine Public Prosecutor's Office, are investigating the incident.

The judicial authorities ordered the transfer of the body to the hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Firefighters are still working on site.
