Since this morning, train traffic on the Rome-Naples and Rome-Florence high-speed lines has been slowed due to two malicious acts. A third incident is under investigation, FS announced. Specifically, on the Rome-Naples line, the RFI operations room reported an anomaly between Salone and Labico, and technicians who responded to the scene found damage to the tunnels containing the cables that control train traffic. After inspection, it was determined that they had been burned.

Meanwhile, on the Rome-Florence line, another malicious act between Tiburtina and Settebagni is causing delays and diversions for trains. A third incident is under investigation between Capena and Gallese, on the Rome-Florence high-speed line. The judicial authorities are investigating the incident and are continuing with the intervention of RFI technicians to fully restore the infrastructure.

Passengers also paid the price, with trains delayed by up to 90 minutes. On the arrivals board at Termini Station, a Frecciarossa train arriving from Milan was delayed by an hour and a half. Six other trains were delayed by around an hour, including one from Naples and one from Mantua, served by different companies. Many trains were delayed by 20-30 minutes.

Following the news of the new sabotage on the high-speed train, Matteo Salvini called what happened "heinous criminal acts against workers and against Italy." He reassured everyone that "vigilance has been increased and we have stepped up checks to root out these criminals, hoping that no one minimizes or condones criminal acts that put people's lives at risk."
