The attacker of Don Rodrigo Gaviria Grajales, a 45-year-old Colombian priest who was stabbed and seriously injured in the city center on the morning of December 30, has been identified by the Modena Carabinieri.

The victim appears to be a young man, an adult, who apparently has mental health problems and is a drug addict.

There would be no connection between the boy and the priest and therefore the motive remains unclear.

Modena Prosecutor Luca Masini has called a press conference for 9 pm at the provincial Carabinieri headquarters, where the investigation is underway for attempted murder.
