A 30-year-old Tunisian citizen, who was illegally present in Italy and was involved in a serious incident that jeopardized the security of Linate Airport, was repatriated yesterday.
On September 19, the man had climbed over the fence surrounding the airport's operating area, gaining access to the taxiway and causing air traffic to be halted for several hours.
The intrusion, considered an "attack on transport security," immediately alerted law enforcement. After the Border Police intervened, the 30-year-old was reported to the judicial authorities and, the following day, handed over to the Immigration Office of the Milan Police Headquarters.
Due to the lack of identification documents and the individual's proven dangerousness—with previous convictions for drug dealing, domestic violence, resisting a public official, and criminal damage—the police commissioner ordered his detention in the Repatriation Detention Center (CPR) on Via Corelli.
Thanks to collaboration between the Immigration Office and the Tunisian Consulate in Milan, it was possible to verify the man's identity and obtain a passport-replacement pass, the document required for repatriation.
According to the reconstruction of the Police Headquarters, the Tunisian citizen landed in Lampedusa on April 28, 2021.
Initially held at the Potenza CPR, he applied for international protection, which was later rejected by the Salerno Territorial Commission in June of that year. A subsequent appeal was rejected by the Salerno Court on February 12, 2025. Since then, the man has remained in Italy despite several expulsion orders.
