Migrant landings more than doubled in the first seven months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.

According to data from the Interior Ministry, there were 89,158 (compared to 41,435 in the period 2022, with a percentage change of 115.18%).

The main country of departure to Italy is Tunisia (last year Libya). Relief efforts following Sar events are increasing, involved in 72.64% of cases: 64,764 (of which 3,777 rescued by NGOs) compared to 19,171 (6,224 rescued by NGOs) in 2022.

There were 2,561 repatriations (+28.05%) compared to 2,000 last year. Asylum requests are also growing: 72,460 (+70.59%).
