The Council of Ministers approved the new Housing Plan . Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called it "ambitious" at a press conference because "we are convinced it can generate a large-scale multiplier: if we add together the various guidelines, we aim to make 100,000 social housing units and affordable housing available over the next 10 years." Meloni announced that "we are dedicating up to 10 billion euros to the plan, to which private investment will be added."

"For the construction sector, with regulated prices," the Prime Minister continued, "we have also provided for the halving of all notary fees. This means halving the cost of sales deeds, mortgages, and rentals. For this, I must thank the sector, which has shown great institutional sensitivity by offering this assistance. As always, things that work work because there is a system that moves as a whole."

Furthermore, the prime minister announced the approval of a bill declaring an emergency measure on evictions: "A package of measures to make the vacating of illegally occupied properties more effective and expedited. We are addressing the procedures for notifying evictions, cutting enforcement times, and introducing an expedited and urgent procedure to obtain the enforcement order through court and thus the release of the property," Meloni explained. She added, "On the one hand, we are creating the conditions for building more homes, and on the other, we are vacating illegally occupied homes to return them to the victims, the owners, and also to increase the availability of housing on the market. This is an issue we have clearly already addressed with the security decree and with evictions."
