Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will be a guest on Pulp Podcast, Fedez and Mr. Marra's podcast, in an episode airing Thursday at 1 p.m.
The announcement , following some rumors and considerable controversy over whether Fedez should be invited on the eve of the referendum, was made on the social media profiles of the rapper's on-demand program, with a reel on Instagram containing a sampling of some of the questions posed by the two hosts. Among the topics addressed were the referendum on justice reform , but also the conflict in the Middle East and the relationship between Europe and the United States within the current international system.
During the conversation with Fedez and Mr. Marra, the Prime Minister reiterated that the referendum on justice should not be transformed into a political clash between the government and the opposition : "We're not voting on Meloni, we're voting on justice. Even those who disagree with this government should evaluate the merits of a reform that aims to improve the functioning of the system." The main points of the reform were then addressed in the conversation, including the separation of careers between judges and public prosecutors, the new disciplinary structure of the judiciary, and the system for selecting members of what would be the new Superior Councils of the Judiciary and the High Court.
Regarding Italy's position on the attack on Iran, Meloni clarified: "Our job is to promote de-escalation." Regarding the relationship between Italy and the United States, " if you ask someone to take care of your security, they won't do it for free ," the prime minister specified, reiterating the need to strengthen Europe's strategic autonomy, especially in the areas of defense, energy, and raw materials.
And regarding the controversy surrounding the prime minister's presence on the podcast, Fedez responded with an audio shared to fans via Instagram, following a note from the producers: Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein "declined the offer on March 17, while no response came from Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte ." "Precisely on the topic of the referendum," the podcast noted, "the podcast hosted representatives from both sides, the Yes and the No sides, including former magistrate Gherardo Colombo, magistrate Nicola Gratteri, Antonio Di Pietro, Carlo Calenda, and Nicola Fratoianni."
