After eight hours, negotiations were concluded to convince a 42-year-old doctor who had barricaded himself in his home in a hamlet of Rho, in the province of Milan, after having fired five gunshots.

The man is not injured but will still be taken to the hospital for tests: he is in a state of confusion after taking psychiatric drugs.

It all started around 12 today when a 118 ambulance arrived in the hamlet of Mazzo di Rho after having received a report of intervention for a man who had abused drugs; the father had called for help. When the doctors arrived at the scene they heard two gunshots fired from the house and immediately notified the police. The man then fired other gunshots, five in all.

The Carabinieri of the Special Intervention Group also arrived on the spot, but in the end the 42-year-old left his home alone without the need for military intervention. To convince him, together with the law enforcement negotiators, was the father, also a doctor, retired, 70 years old who all day talked to his son, separated and father of a daughter, with a megaphone from the courtyard of the farmhouse where the apartment is located.

The surgeon in the house was alone with two pistols, which he detained with a regular firearm license.
