"Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a telephone conversation today with President Sergio Mattarella to propose taking over the interim position at the Ministry of Tourism. The Head of State then signed the decree granting the interim position," according to a statement from Palazzo Chigi, which clarifies that the Prime Minister has assumed the position previously held by Daniela Santanchè.
Giorgia Meloni, the statement continues, "extends her thanks to Minister Santanchè, who has worked with great dedication over the years and has ensured her contribution to the recovery and revitalization of Italian tourism."
"The Government," the statement explains, "will continue to work to support and enhance a strategic asset of the national economy, which ensures Italy's prosperity, well-being, and international prestige."
