Alarm was raised today in Carvico, in the province of Bergamo, where a man was struck by a harpoon gun fired from a moving car while he was in a supermarket parking lot. The car then quickly drove away. The man was with a female friend, who was unharmed.

The Carabinieri are trying to determine whether the incident was a random occurrence or a targeted attack. They are examining footage from surveillance cameras in the area.

According to the reconstruction, the car approached the 59-year-old man—who was with a friend, and both were returning to their car after lunch in the area. A man then rolled down the car window to fire the shot, which struck the pedestrian in the chest. A doctor was also in the area and immediately assisted the injured man, who was then taken to the Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo by ambulance. His life is not in danger.
