A 30-year-old man was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of attempted kidnapping for trying to steal an 8-year-old boy by pretending to be his father from the locker rooms of a sports center in Osio Sotto, in the province of Bergamo, after a training session.

It was the child who alerted the instructor that the man wasn't his father, and at that point the 30-year-old—who has no criminal record—tried to walk away, but was stopped by the parents of the other children who had arrived at the center to pick up their children at the end of the lesson. Then the police intervened.
