Carabinieri officers from Azeglio and Borgomasino arrested a 47-year-old Moldovan man for attempted murder after he attempted to set his live-in partner on fire on the night of July 4th. The attack occurred inside the couple's home in the San Bernardo district of Ivrea (Turin).
The man, likely drunk, doused the woman with diesel fuel during a violent argument in an attempt to set her on fire. A friend of the couple, who was in the house at the time, intervened between them and managed to restrain the attacker, already holding a lighter, until the Carabinieri arrived. The officers, alerted by the victim, immediately subdued the attacker, taking the lighter from him.
No one involved was injured. The 47-year-old was arrested for attempted murder and taken to prison, as ordered by the Ivrea prosecutor's office, which is coordinating the investigation.
