Major drug bust between Livorno and Pisa, 15 arrests and 38 searches
A 24-hour drug dealing ring in Piazza Garibaldi in Livorno has been dismantled.Since the early hours of this morning, the Carabinieri of the Livorno Provincial Command, with the support of their colleagues from the provinces of Pisa and Florence , have launched a large-scale anti-drug operation that has resulted in the execution of 15 precautionary measures. The operation, dubbed "Garibaldi," involved over 150 officers, supported by special units of the Carabinieri, canine units, and a helicopter from the Pisa Unit.
Investigators have targeted a drug dealing network rooted in the Piazza Garibaldi area of Livorno, active day and night and capable of generating a daily turnover of approximately €1,000. The investigation, coordinated by the Livorno Prosecutor's Office and conducted through stakeouts, tailing, and video surveillance, has uncovered a drug production, trafficking, and possession network involving dozens of individuals.
In addition to the 15 suspects subject to precautionary measures, another 38 have been served with search warrants . Of these, 22 are found to be illegal immigrants in Italy: expulsion proceedings have been initiated against them.
Details of the operation will be announced during a press conference called by the Carabinieri at 10 a.m. at the Livorno Provincial Command.
