Police have cracked down on the Scalisi clan, a gang historically rooted in Adrano, near Catania, by executing a precautionary custody order against 14 suspects.

The provision alleges various crimes of mafia association, drug trafficking, extortion and illegal possession of weapons, receiving stolen goods, damage caused by fire , and unauthorized access to communication devices by prisoners, all of which are aggravated by the fact that they were committed in order to facilitate the mafia organization.

The order was executed by the Catania Flying Squad and the Adrano Police Station, coordinated by the SCO, with the collaboration of the police of Naples, Caserta, Taranto, Nuoro, Sassari, Udine, Pavia, Syracuse, Chieti, and Caltagirone.

These measures add to the arrests ordered by the Catania Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by police in recent days against 10 suspects from the same clan. Following the validation hearing, the investigating judge issued a precautionary detention order against them.

The investigations involve a total of thirty people.
