The wounds on the carcass of M62, the bear found dead on the Brenta group - above Lake Molveno - are probably attributable to the attack of an adult male bear.

The hypothesis, according to the Autonomous Province of Trento, was put forward by the Forestry Corps, which intervened to remove the animal and carry out the necessary checks after a report from some hikers.

A hypothesis that will be confirmed in the next few days by the analyzes of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of the Venezie.

Clashes between bears can occur throughout the year. In the mating season, which has already begun, this risk increases. Bear M62 (5 years old) was identified thanks to the ear tags that were applied to him in November 2021.

The deceased bear was on the list of those to be killed drawn up by the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti: he had never attacked anyone but was considered "confidant".
