The trial against Lory Del Santo, charged with aggravated defamation for statements made during television interviews in 2024—"La volta buona" on Rai Uno and an episode of Le Iene—in which she accused director Sergio Leone, who died in 1989, of harassment, will begin this spring in the Rome court.
Del Santo - according to what Repubblica writes today - cited an alleged episode of advances that occurred in the early 1980s during the making of the film "Once Upon a Time in America".
These words sparked a reaction from one of the great director's daughters, Francesca Leone, who, assisted by lawyer Giuseppe Bellomo, filed a complaint at the Piazzale Clodio offices. Rome prosecutors have concluded their investigation, and the trial will begin next spring.
Host Caterina Balivo is also implicated in the proceedings for a joke about the "slap" that Del Santo should have given the director and other comments deemed not neutral with respect to the former showgirl's version.
