He kept his partner locked up for years, beating her and extorting money from her : the woman eventually managed to escape and the man was arrested by the Caserta police for kidnapping, enslavement and extortion .

The investigation by the Flying Squad began with a complaint from a thirty-six-year-old Romanian woman, the man's former partner, who had lived in Caserta for some time and who had already been arrested in the past for serious mistreatment of the woman. The investigations allowed them to reconstruct a nightmare story. The woman, due to the constant mistreatment, had moved away from Caserta, but in September 2017 she had been kidnapped by her partner , who dragged her into his car, ordering her not to scream and not to attract attention.

Immediately after, he took her to Curti, a municipality in the Caserta area, where for many years, at least until March 2023, he reduced her to slavery . During all this time, the Romanian kept his ex-partner locked up in a room, depriving her of food and water for long periods, forcing her to steal and beg . If the money she collected was not enough, she was violently beaten . On two occasions, the woman was even stabbed, with scars still visible on her head .

At the end of 2023, the victim managed to escape, taking two of her four minor children with her and finding refuge in the home of a sister-in-law . However, her ex-partner managed to contact her via social media and ordered her to hand over 25,000 euros, threatening to harm not only her, but also her family, who live in Switzerland. At that point, the woman turned to the Caserta Police Headquarters' Flying Squad: following the investigation, the Naples Prosecutor's Office requested and obtained a custodial order against the suspect, who was tracked down and transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
