There is no certainty regarding the assumption or administration of rape drugs in the case of the 22-year-old who, with her complaint for alleged abuse on the night between 18 and 19 May 2023, triggered the investigation for sexual violence against by Leonardo Apache La Russa, son of the president of the Senate, and his friend DJ Tommaso Gilardoni.

This is the outcome of the consultation carried out on the girl's hair. The expert in forensic toxicology and professor at the State University, Domenico Di Candia, appointed by the Prosecutor's Office, noted for that period last May the presence of the active ingredient of Ghb, a presence which, however, cannot be said whether it derives from a "physiological" production of that active ingredient , as it occurs, or from intake or administration by someone.

In essence , the consultancy is not decisive on the issue of Ghb: it does not exclude its assumption, but it does not give any certainty, because the range of data is also compatible with physiological production. In recent months, the 22-year-old's lawyers had filed their own opinion with the prosecutors in which it was claimed that traces of Ghb had been found in a period compatible with the night between 18 and 19 May, when the violence allegedly occurred. The latest scientific analyzes had also detected the presence of the DNA of the two young people investigated on seized artefacts. A presence which, in any case, does not change the framework of the investigation also because the suspects themselves have always claimed to have had relationships, which they say were consenting, with the girl.

The 22-year-old, however, reported in June (the hair was taken in July) that she woke up naked in the bed of Leonardo Apache, whom she met during the evening at the Apophis nightclub, without remembering anything and with her former high school friend who she said she had had sex with him and a friend. The central issue of the investigation remains to establish what the young woman's conditions were that night between 18 and 19 May 2023. Whether or not she was capable of expressing consent, and also the alleged malice of the suspects, i.e. their awareness. And at this point, the results, not yet filed, of an extensive toxicological and medico-legal consultation will be important, which will also include the unrepeatable assessment on the hair. The first analyzes of videos found in Gilardoni's phone, then, would not have provided conclusive answers for the investigation.

It is possible, finally, that the investigators, before defining the investigations probably before the summer break, will need to hear some more witnesses or to listen to the girl again, after the filing of all the consultants' documents. «Leonardo La Russa's defense is very satisfied with the outcome of the appraisal - underlined the lawyers Vinicio Nardo and Edoardo Bazzoni -. If there had been an assumption, according to the scientific data also reported by our consultant, it would certainly have emerged, which did not happen." «The conclusions of the report absolutely confirm that the levels of Ghb detected in the girl's hair are constant over the five months examined and that these levels exclude external hiring» say, in their opinion, the lawyers Nardo and Bazzoni.
