The nationwide weekly incidence of Covid cases continues to increase rapidly.
According to the weekly monitoring by the Ministry of Health-Iss, it has more than doubled reaching 783 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (24/12/2021 - 30/12/2021) against 351 per 100,000 last week (17/12/2021 - 23/12 / 2021, Ministry of Health flow data). In the period 7 December - 20 December, the mean Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.18 (range 1.13 - 1.22), slightly up compared to the previous week (it was equal to 1.13) and still above the epidemic threshold.
INTENSIVE CARE - The employment rate in intensive care is on the rise: it is 12.9% (according to the daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 30 December) compared to 10.7% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as at 23 December). The employment rate in medical areas at the national level rises to 17.1% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as of December 30) against 13.9% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as of December 23).
There is a sharp increase in the number of new cases of Covid-19 not associated with transmission chains (124,707 against 62,669 in the previous week). The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing activity is decreasing (21% versus 27% last week). The percentage of cases detected through the appearance of symptoms is increasing (48% vs 45%) and the percentage of cases diagnosed through screening activities is also increasing (31% vs 28%).
AGENAS - According to Agenas, which compares the data of December 30 with those of the previous day, there are 14 regions that exceed the alert threshold of 10% of the places in intensive care occupied by patients with Covid-19: Abruzzo (at 12%), Calabria (15%), Emilia Romagna (14%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (15%), Lazio (16%), Liguria (20%), Lombardy (13%), Marche (17%), Pa Bolzano (18%), Pa Trento (23%), Piedmont (16%), Sicily (11%), Tuscany (13%), Veneto (18%).
At a national level, the occupancy rate of beds in non-critical area hospital wards by patients with Covid-19 is stable at a national level, but rises in 10 regions, and there are now 17 that exceed the threshold of 15 %. The highest values are recorded in Calabria and Valle d'Aosta, both at 29%.
