Marriage? Why not. The younger ones think so: a surprise in the ''slowed-down'' Italy of recent years. The Istat report ''Children and young people 2023'' reveals an unexpected confidence, between dreams that are confirmed and ''serious'' projects: family and children.

Some data. The youngest are looking at a future as a couple (74.5%) and at marriage (72.5%). Many want to have children (69.4%) and there are those who think of a large family, with three or more children (18.2%).

The scenario offered by the Institute of Statistics thus appears to go against the trend: young people residing in Italy between the ages of 11 and 19 (just over 5 million) think of getting married before the age of thirty and girls even before the age of 26.

What happened? All the unknowns about the future remain, but young people are not discouraged. For 41.3% of those interviewed ''the future fascinates''; 32.3% fear it; 26.5% prefer not to think about it.

The data on the future is conditioned by the economic situation: among the ''fascinated'' 48.5% declare it as ''very good''.

But do young people want to stay in Italy? Not exactly. 34% think of a future in the United States, Great Britain or Spain.

Regarding education, over 50% are thinking of enrolling in high school; 26.1 are undecided; 14.7 to a technical institute; 8.4 to a professional.

Meanwhile, the ideas are very clear on digital growth: 85% of children between 11 and 19 have a profile on a social network. The percentage shoots up to 97 in the 17-19 age group.
