In the last month, 64% of ICU admissions and 45.3% of deaths have occurred among those who have not received even a dose of the anti-Covid vaccine.

These are the data that emerge from the Extended Surveillance Report of the Higher Institute of Health that completes the weekly monitoring.

Numbers that must obviously be evaluated taking into account that there are about 8 million non-immunized people in Italy, while there are over 43 million fully vaccinated (including 39 million who received the last dose less than six months ago).

The death rate in the unvaccinated (65 per 100,000 population) is approximately nine times higher than in full course vaccinated within six months (7 per 100,000) and six times higher than in full course vaccinated for over six months (11 per 100,000).

In the period from 8 October to 7 November 2021, 424 unvaccinated people entered intensive care, compared to 177 who completed the primary course less than six months ago.

In the last 30 days, 50,564 cases of Covid were reported among the unvaccinated (39.9%), 3,980 among the vaccinated with incomplete cycle (3.1%), 60,407 among the vaccinated with full cycle (47.7%) within six months, 11,215 among those vaccinated with full course over six months (8.9%) and 537 among vaccinated with full course and additional dose (0.4%).

51.0% of hospitalizations, 64.0% of ICU admissions and 45.3% of deaths occurred among those who received no vaccine dose.

In detail, among those hospitalized in intensive care: 14 (2.1%) vaccinated with an incomplete cycle; 177 (26.7%) full course vaccinated within 6 months; 45 (6.8%) vaccinated with full course for more than 6 months and 2 (0.3%) vaccinated with full course plus third dose.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROTECTION LAST - For those who have been vaccinated for more than 6 months, the ISS notes, the effectiveness in preventing severe disease compared to unvaccinated drops from 95% to 82%.

The decrease is even more marked as regards the infection.

"After 6 months from the completion of the vaccination cycle - reads the report - there is a sharp decrease in vaccination efficacy in preventing diagnoses in all age groups".

Across the entire population, the effectiveness in preventing infection goes from 79% in the vaccinated with a full course within six months compared to the unvaccinated, to 55% in the vaccinated with a full course over six months compared to the unvaccinated.
