A new inspection is planned today at Villa Pamphili, in Rome, where yesterday afternoon the lifeless bodies of a baby girl of about six months and a 40-year-old woman were found. The two victims have been identified: they are a mother and daughter, originally from Eastern Europe. The investigations, thanks to DNA testing and fingerprints in the database, have focused the attention of investigators on a man who is apparently linked to them. The woman's body was closed inside a black bag, in an advanced state of decomposition.

The police are investigating the incident. Among the hypotheses is that of a double homicide that occurred in a context of severe degradation, not excluded among homeless people. Testimonies and images from wide-area cameras are being examined, which could have captured along the way those who brought the bodies to the park .

The double tragedy was discovered yesterday, but the date of death and any possible connection are still unclear. Among the hypotheses is that of a single murderer. The bodies were spotted by passers-by a few hours apart: first that of the little girl, then – about 200 meters away – that of the woman inside a bag . According to initial checks, the latter's body does not show signs of violence.

The story in Rome comes just a few days after what happened in the Salerno area , where a 9-month-old child from Vibonati was hospitalized with serious fractures and injuries . The little boy is currently at Santobono in Naples, his conditions remain extremely serious. The child was urgently transferred by helicopter ambulance last Thursday, after an initial life-saving intervention performed by doctors at the Sapri hospital.
