As soon as she approached the garden of her friend's villa , the dogs pounced on her, biting her to death . The tragedy occurred on the outskirts of Latin a, where a twenty-seven-year-old of Nigerian origin , Patricia Masithela , who worked as a barmaid in the area , died from her injuries.

The alarm was raised around 3 am on Sunday morning in via Piccarello. Some neighbors who heard the desperate screams of the young woman attacked by the pack of animals activated the rescue . In a few moments she was literally attacked in the garden of the house of a friend who was not at home at the time. The police from the Pontine police station intervened on the scene. When they arrived, the victim was on the ground in a pool of blood still surrounded by the pack.

An officer fired his service pistol to scare away the dogs, still enraged, and allow rescuers to get close to her. One of the animals was killed while a second was reportedly injured. The others, without microchips, ran away. At that point the woman was rescued by medical personnel and taken to the Santa Maria Goretti hospital in a 118 ambulance in very serious conditions. She had deep wounds on various parts of her body. Attempts to save her were in vain and she died a few hours after arriving at the hospital due to the serious injuries she had sustained.

Investigations are now underway to clarify exactly what happened and establish any responsibilities.

According to the reconstruction, already last week the same animals - four or five - had attacked the owner and his girlfriend. Last night, however, things went differently because there was no one at home to stop the enraged pack.

The man was tracked down by the police while the victim's body was made available to the judicial authorities for forensic medical examinations.

The house, currently uninhabited, has been placed under seizure. It appears to have been in a state of degradation and that the animals were malnourished. It also remains to be established why the victim entered the garden in the middle of the night.
