He took possession of a pilot boat at the port of Livorno and fled aboard the boat, bumping into a ferry sailing to Cagliari. Then, he attempted to set the vehicle on fire.

It is the daring episode that occurred around 3.30 last night, the protagonist was a man who was then stopped by the men of the harbor master's office and by the firefighters who intervened on the spot.

From what has been explained, the man, of Dutch origin, would probably have been under the influence of alcoholic substances. From what was rebuilt he managed to get on board the pilot boat, set it in motion and headed for the open sea. Then the alarm went off and another pilot boat and a patrol boat left, the latter sent by the coast guard, with the fugitive stopped about 13 miles from the coast in the direction of the island of Gorgona, but only after he had been accidentally "Rammed" the ferry in transit. No consequences for the passenger ship, the "Maria Grazia Onorato", which was able to continue the journey to Sardinia, but instead serious damage for the smaller boat that would have begun to take on water.

The fire attempt then took place while the pilot boat, reached and stopped, was towed to the port: the man would have been blocked by the military and the firefighters who in the meantime, given the conditions of the pilot boat, had also intervened with the divers.

The protagonist of the story, once he returned to the port, was accompanied to the emergency room and then to the Polmare offices pending any possible measures by the judicial authority.
