Tragedy has occurred in the Florence area, along the A1 highway. A man jumped from the Alteta viaduct along the highway, in the Barberino del Mugello area, at the junction between the Panoramica and the Direttissima. Following a report, a highway police patrol responded in the early afternoon. Officers found the man's body and, nearby, that of a woman, believed to be his ex-partner. Based on initial investigations, the case is thought to be a murder-suicide. The woman's name was Lorena Isceri, 47, and the man was Federico Vella, 36, both from Florence.
According to reports, the woman contacted 112 and a friend for help. After the request, the Police Headquarters operations room ordered a search for the car on the highway, but by the time the Highway Patrol arrived, there was nothing more they could do.
Among the hypotheses, one is that the man may have pushed his ex into the void and then jumped off the overpass.
