The victim helped by an English tourist, queuing outside the toilet
A 26-year-old was arrested by the carabinieri on charges of raping a young woman in the bathroom of a room in the historic center of Florence.
The facts date back to 18 June last, in a disco on via dei Benci, in the Santa Croce district . The victim, of foreign nationality, would have arrived at the club together with a friend with whom she would then have separated.
The attacker, identified as a 26-year-old Nigerian, according to reports from La Nazione would have managed to push her into a toilet where, having locked the door, he would have abused her. An English tourist who was waiting outside the bathroom door rescued the young woman.
The girl was taken by ambulance to the hospital where tests confirmed signs of violence.
The suspect, writes the investigating judge in the order, "soon afterwards returned to the place notoriously frequented by very young foreign girls who can become easy prey". In the validation interrogation, the 26-year-old allegedly denied having used any violence. DNA tests arranged.
