The funerals of Elena Belloli and Rubens Bertocchi, a husband and wife who died Thursday afternoon in their home on Via Fanti, when the man killed her with several shots from a regularly reported 22 caliber pistol and then committed suicide, will be celebrated together in the parish church of Cene, in the province of Bergamo.

The parish priest, Don Primo Moioli, announced: "I thank the families - said Don Primo - who with this choice have given the greatest sign of faith. That funeral is love: despite the hardships and the pain we have in our hearts, we will celebrate love. May God give them credit for it" . The community of Cene is lost and astonished, but, as was repeatedly recalled in the Mass praying in particular for the two children, "this is the time of silence and prayer". And the parish priest asked "the Holy Spirit, in the solemnity of Pentecost, to illuminate and warm with his breath these tragic hours".

The crime took place last Thursday in the late afternoon in Cene, a town of just over 4,000 inhabitants in the Seriana Valley. The bodies of Belloli and Bertocchi, aged 51 and 55, were found by the firefighters, alerted by the couple's twenty-year-old son who was unable to enter the house . She was an employee, he was a security guard, and the couple lived with their two children in an apartment in a three-story building. The Carabinieri of the Clusone Company and the Bergamo Investigative Unit intervened on the scene, and were entrusted with the investigations coordinated by Deputy Prosecutor Giampiero Golluccio.

The military searched the house, which was placed under seizure. Bertocchi, shortly before taking his own life and after shooting his wife six times, two of which hit her in the chest, sent a message to the cell phone of a mutual friend of the couple, the meaning of which was: "I killed her and now I'm going to shoot myself." In the message, the man, a former food merchant who now worked as a doorman in a building in Bergamo, allegedly made references to the discovery of an extramarital relationship by his wife, although investigators have not yet found confirmation of this.
