The victim, a 29-year-old Finnish woman, was alone when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street and died instantly from the force of the impact. The driver fled the scene without providing assistance.
The 118 doctors who intervened could do nothing but confirm the young woman's death.
There are no witnesses, so the local police, in addition to investigating the accident, are examining video surveillance cameras in the area in an attempt to trace the car's license plate and identify the driver.
