A Dutch tourist has been missing since 12:30 p.m. in the waters of Lake Como. The man had rented a boat with his three children.
When his sixteen-year-old son dived into the lake near Menaggio, where the depth of the lake quickly drops from 25 to 100 meters, the man saw him in difficulty and jumped in to save him.
At that point, however, the Coast Guard explains, the boat carrying the other two children drifted away, likely due to the currents. And while the two were trying to reach it, the son was helped by a person on a stand-up paddleboard, while the father sank.
The Coast Guard, Fire Brigade, and Carabinieri of Menaggio are engaged in the search.
