Three thieves tried to break into his house. Antonio Giovannelli, a 54-year-old entrepreneur, did not hesitate for a moment: he confronted them with a stick in his hand and put them to flight: «They shouted at me "I'll kill you", "what the f.. or do you want?" and "leave". But that was my home: they were the ones who had to leave,” he says.

The episode happened in recent days in Guardiagrele, in the province of Chieti, in Abruzzo. Everything was captured by a video surveillance system.

The man said that the first to disturb the action of the criminals was his wife: she had heard noises in the alley, but not the one from the door. So she realized it wasn't her husband and turned on the light on the stairs, making them move away.

He returned to those moments. His wife warned him of what was happening: he went down the street and saw the three of them trying to enter the house of their cousin, who had already been the victim of a theft in the past. And he faced them. An uproar ensued, with objects being thrown. The entrepreneur hit with the truncheon. The criminals fled in a car and tried to run him over. He was ready again: he hit the glass to break it and make the vehicle recognizable.

The evening ended well for him: no thefts and, in the end, thieves on the run.
