He allegedly disconnected all the life support and equipment that kept his elderly mother alive, who is bedridden at home due to cancer, and for this reason a 47-year-old man was arrested on charges of attempted murder.
According to local press reports, the 47-year-old, the only relative living with the elderly woman, told the medical staff who then rescued the woman, saving her life, that he wanted to "rely on God's will."
The incident occurred on December 15th. A home care nurse called 118: once at the patient's home for daily care, she noticed that the tubes and feeding tubes had been disconnected.
The ambulance then transported the woman to the hospital where she is still hospitalized.
During the preliminary hearing, the son exercised his right to remain silent. Initially, he had been restricted from approaching the suspect by wearing an electronic bracelet, a measure later changed to house arrest.
