"I now pronounce you husband and wife."
The formula that many couples are waiting to hear for a lifetime. But this time it was pronounced in circumstances unfortunately very different from usual.
Giuseppina married her partner, Andrea Campana, on the day of her funeral. The 37-year-old man died in a car accident on Tuesday 14 September: he was aboard his Yamaha T-Max scooter in Pioppa di Cesena when he was hit and killed by a car.
In front of friends and relatives, who filled the church, his girlfriend and mother of their 11-year-old daughter Aurora wanted to carry out their project of uniting for life.
A ceremony without legal and canonical value, but highly symbolic. Giuseppina had the bouquet and, during the homily, the letter-prayer for the bridegroom that she had already prepared for the day they would go up to the altar was read.
"Andrea will always be yours and yours alone", said the parish priest Jacek Kusiak, celebrating a love that "goes beyond all boundaries".
