Fabio Anselmo, the Fakir family's lawyer, told ANSA about the police currently investigating the 42-year-old's death during an officer's intervention in Bologna. As a lawyer, Anselmo has previously handled cases such as those of Stefano Cucchi and Federico Aldrovandi.

Meanwhile, the family is speaking out again about the matter: "Our dramatic story is now compounded by the shock of the start of a smear campaign against him," say Fakir's brother and sister. And then, through their lawyer Anselmo: "Every time a man dies in the hands of the state, the price the family pays is public smearing. I would like to know from which databases the information on his long-ago criminal record was drawn. These are revelations of official secrets."

Meanwhile, a demonstration organized in Bologna in front of the Prefecture erupted into clashes between police and protesters after a firecracker was thrown. Protesters tore off window guards from armored vehicles and threw them at police vehicles, which then charged a group of protesters.
