He punched his partner in a fight for futile reasons, and left her on the ground, unconscious. Then he called a relative: "I killed her, come and get me," he said on the phone, convinced that he had killed the woman.

The carabinieri arrested him and took him to prison in Modena while investigations are underway on what happened on New Year's Eve in a house in Reggio Emilia. The victim, a 30-year-old, was actually injured and had fractured face in the hospital. When the military reached the apartment they found her in tears and in bloody clothes while her partner had hidden under the bed.
