The uphill curves and the new contagions that show no sign of descending alert not only the government but also the Regions, who fear a return to lockdowns and restrictions.
For this reason, the extension of the Green pass becomes increasingly probable, the mandatory nature of which could be extended at least until next summer. Another eight months that they will be able, this is the government's wish, to convince the skeptics and reach the 90% target set by Commissioner Figliuolo in order to start thinking about easing the measures.
"In Italy we are not at all in a situation out of control", reassures the coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee, Franco Locatelli, adding that this is due "to two factors: the high adhesion to the vaccination campaign and the maintenance of the obligation of masks and distancing. But attention must be paid to the increase in numbers ".
At Palazzo Chigi, therefore, work is being done to verify the possibility of extending the Green Pass and a state of emergency, both expiring at the end of the year. In all likelihood, the green certificate will be extended until summer, so as to be able to keep infections under control during the delicate winter.
"It is a really useful strategy - Locatelli's opinion -. It serves to keep our work and social activities as safe as possible". The state of emergency will also be extended, probably through a decree, in order to keep alive the commissioner structure, safety protocols - such as distancing and masks -, smart working and all those rules and facilities connected to the health emergency.
Hypothesis, the latter, all to be evaluated, because the duration of the state of emergency "cannot exceed 12 months and can be extended for no more than a further 12 months". So in total two years, and the state of emergency in Italy was declared in March 2020.
However, the former Minister of Regional Affairs Francesco Boccia speaks of an "inevitable" extension.
"Citizens who have not been vaccinated - underlines the Undersecretary of Health Andrea Costa - must know that if they are enjoying a whole series of freedoms it is thanks to the 45 million Italians who have done so. It is clear that if they continue not to be vaccinated. , this will greatly affect the return to normality and the state of emergency ".
Costa goes further: "The vaccination obligation for some categories is absolutely not a taboo and we are ready to take it into consideration. Now let's face these weeks, let's see what the vaccination data will be, after which we hope that there is a sense of responsibility that prevails. ".
