This morning, the neurologists Stefano Zago , professor at the University of Milan, and Lorenzo Lorusso , director of the department at the Merate hospital, went to the clinical center of the Milanese penitentiary where the elderly man is detained, the two experts appointed a dozen of days ago by the judges following a new release request requested by the defence. The lawyers Beatrice Goddi and Maria Luisa Vernier, based on their consultations, believe that their client presents «a neuro-cognitive and neuropsychiatric decline, which could be the beginning of a problem of senile dementia ».

The outcome of the report is expected in a few months and, if it were to confirm the clinical picture hypothesized by the lawyers, Mesina could serve his sentence in the Orgosolo home of his family members , who in recent days have expressed their willingness to welcome him.
