Imelda Starnini, the "teacher" from Città di Castello (Perugia) who last year graduated from the high school of Human Sciences, has died at the age of 91 and then managed to fulfill her lifelong dream: to rise (symbolically) to the professorship for one day in an elementary school. Born in Selci on 3 February 1933, her story moved the country. After the final exam, the Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara , in a letter defined " the commitment made in studying to obtain the diploma as commendable ", underlining "above all, his determination in not abandoning his dream".

After her work on books she was invited by the mayor Luca Secondi to the Userna school to give a symbolic lesson to the children. «Mother flew to heaven, thank you for everything», with a short message her children Luca and Sara communicated the news of her death.

The mayor of Città di Castello Luca Secondi and that of San Giustino, Paolo Fratini, with the school director of the "San Francesco di Sales" Institute, Simone Polchi, expressed to the family the «closeness of two local communities and of the school that is they embrace with affection and admiration in the memory of a great woman, of great values and examples for the young generations." Funeral tomorrow, at 2.30 pm, in the church of Cerbara.
