An 11-year-old girl whose hair got stuck in the drain of a paddling pool in Sestri Levante has died. She was rushed to the Gaslini Children's Hospital in critical condition, but she died.

According to reconstructions, last Wednesday the little girl became trapped in the drain of a swimming pool, sucked in by her hair, and remained underwater for some time. As soon as her family noticed what had happened, they immediately raised the alarm and rescue operations began. First the lifeguards at the swimming pool, then the ambulance crew dispatched by 118, who spent over half an hour resuscitating the little girl, who was then airlifted to the hospital. She died today.

The Coast Guard and the Carabinieri of Sestri Levante are investigating the incident. The plant has been seized.
