This afternoon, unknown individuals damaged and stole Gigi Proietti's tombstone at the Verano Monumental Cemetery in Rome.

Ama, the company that manages the cemetery, immediately reported the incident to the relevant authorities and contacted law enforcement, providing the footage recorded by the video surveillance system.

"The company," a statement said, "will provide full cooperation to investigators to fully ascertain the facts and identify those responsible."

The plaque was placed at Verano immediately after the burial of the artist, who passed away in 2020.
