Despite the extension of the excise duty cut until September 5th, the price of diesel in Sardinia remains above €2.10 per liter, above the national average. Today – August 31, 2026 – "the average price of self-service fuel along the national road network is €2.017 per liter for gasoline and €2.130 per liter for diesel ," the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy announced, based on the latest data collected by the MIMIT Fuel Price Observatory.
The same data from the Ministry highlight how on the island the average price is 2,141 euros per litre for self-service diesel and 2,028 euros per litre for self-service petrol.
The Italian motorway network has the highest prices nationwide: the average self-service price is €2,097 per litre for petrol and €2,204 per litre for diesel.
