Two arrests have been made in the death of Franka Ludwig, a 52-year-old German woman found dead on a mountain trail in the woods near San Godenzo (Florence) on July 2. Acting on orders from the Florence prosecutor's office, the Carabinieri arrested the victim's partner, 53, and a 66-year-old friend, both Florentines, for voluntary manslaughter .
The two, according to the prosecution, allegedly organized the crime to collect the insurance premium of approximately one million in the woman's name . After stunning her with a psychotropic drug, the two allegedly took her to the path and killed her by hitting her on the head with a boulder .
The two people arrested are Emiliano Milza and Simona Hirsch, the latter a friend of the couple .
The body of Franka Ludwig, a beautician on holiday in the Florence area, was found by a passerby along the dirt road leading to Monte Falterona, in Castagno d'Andrea, a tourist resort about 50 km from Florence, in the San Godenzo area.
The woman was wearing jogging pants because, according to what her friend, who was later arrested, stated at the time, the two women had arranged to meet for a walk . The friend, not seeing her arrive, reportedly alerted the authorities.
There was a lot of blood around the body; the head injuries were the cause of death according to the autopsy, which ruled out an accidental fall or collision . This led to the homicide investigation, which led to the two arrests.
