A 42-year-old man, Annibale Carta, known as Dino, was shot dead last night in Foggia .
The crime took place in Via Caracciolo, a semi-central area of the Apulian city, a stone's throw from the Zaccheria stadium.
The victim is a personal trainer with no criminal record , living in a building in the area. He is married and had recently become a father .
The Carabinieri are investigating. The 42-year-old was reportedly killed with at least four small-caliber gunshots .
The man had gone out into the street to walk his dog when he was hit by gunshots that left him no escape.
"A very good man , married with young children," some local residents said. "A calm person. We didn't notice anything. We just heard a few shots but didn't immediately understand what had happened. It was truly terrible."
