The Guardia di Finanza is conducting searches at the headquarters of the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante della Privacy) as part of an investigation by the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office into the Authority's president, Pasquale Stanzione, and other members of the authority.

Embezzlement and corruption are the alleged crimes. The case is being coordinated by Deputy Chief of Staff Giuseppe De Falco. The other suspects, in addition to Stanzione, are Ginevra Cerrina Feroni, Agostino Ghiglia, and Guido Scorza. All are members of the Guarantor's panel.

During the investigation, the Guardia di Finanza seized cell phones and computers. The investigation began after reports on expenses and certain sanctions procedures were found to be opaque.
