Fear returns to the Phlegraean Fields: it's 7:46 PM on a sultry afternoon when the earthquake strikes again in Pozzuoli, sparking a stampede from homes. The tremor immediately appears strong and, as always, is felt even in the neighborhoods of Naples closest to the Phlegraean coast.

Eight people are currently injured, none of them seriously . The earthquake measured a magnitude of 4.7, according to seismographs, the strongest since bradyseism returned to these parts, and the most violent in the last 40 years . Even stronger than the 4.6 recorded on June 30, 2025.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is following the evolution of the situation and the developments of the Crisis Unit meeting, convened by Department Head Fabio Ciciliano to coordinate the interventions.

The damage was greatest in Pozzuoli, with a section of wall collapsing from a building on Via Pergolesi. Large tuff stones broke loose from the building and fell onto several parked cars, damaging them. No casualties or injuries have been reported. Also in Pozzuoli, where structural checks are underway, several building facades have been damaged. The area affected by the collapse is covered in dust. Many residents of the Phlegraean Fields area took to the streets after the powerful earthquake, saying they plan to spend the night outdoors . Eight people suffered minor injuries, but the toll is provisional. All suffered injuries classified as yellow-coded, and their health conditions are not worrying.

No emergency calls were received at the Naples Fire Department headquarters after the 4.7 magnitude earthquake in the Campi Flegrei area. In addition to the collapse of the façade of the building in Pozzuoli, several cornice and plaster collapses were reported between Pozzuoli and Bagnoli, which, again, did not affect residents.

Immediately after the earthquake that was recorded this evening, the prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari , spoke with the mayors of Pozzuoli and Bacoli and convened the Rescue Coordination Center to take stock of the situation not only in the Phlegraean Fields area, but also in the city of Naples, where the shock was clearly felt.

Finally, rail traffic in the Naples hub, including the high-speed line, has been suspended to allow technical inspections of the infrastructure. The suspension affects high-speed, intercity, and regional trains. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana technicians are already at work, following established procedures in these cases, to inspect the infrastructure. Traffic will resume as soon as the inspections are completed and the line is fully safe. "We are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring full coordination between all operational structures to provide assistance to the population and monitor the area," assured Civil Protection Minister Nello Musumeci.
